Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health

Counseling from Richmont Graduate University

Michael graduated from Covenant College in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development focusing on International Economic Development.

Though there was opportunity to work overseas, Michael instead moved to Atlanta shortly after graduating and began working in the philanthropy world for an organization, Giving Wisely, that focused on connecting wealthy donors with opportunities around the world.

After serving the President of Giving Wisely for a year, the organization expanded its vision to encourage generosity around the world (Global Generosity Movement). Michael quickly transitioned into managing projects that included translating generosity materials into Arabic, planning vision trips for families, and speaking to various young groups about what it means to live generously.

After several years of managing projects, Michael began consulting for an organization in Uganda, Champions United FC, working with young men through the sport of soccer. Michael helped Champions United FC develop their training program, traveling frequently to train local Ugandan leaders on leadership, skill development, and team building. Michael left Champions United FC in 2015 to pursue counseling and coaching full-time.

Michael has his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. He is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (APC#006123) in the state of Georgia, and practices under the supervision of S. LaShay Dowley, LPC, MAMFT. Michael has worked in a hospital setting as well as private practice. Michael works with couples and individuals dealing with communication problems, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, and addiction.

Michael and his wife Griffin live in Decatur, GA with their young daughter.
